Amazon abriu o seu espazo para venda por catálogo virtual de libros españois e gaches diversos. Outro éxito publicitario rotundo da multinacional estadounidense que non precisou doutra estratexia que deixar viralizar a súa páxina pola rede nosa que a recibiu cos brazos abertos e moi escaso espírito crítico. Unha actitude moi diferente ao muro de silencio existente sobre outras iniciativas de distribución de libros impresos, como a de Todos tus libros.com, a marca comercial do proxecto Cegal en rede, promovida por máis de duascentas librarías culturais españolas e que ofrece un catálogo dispoñible incomparablemente moito máis amplo co do xigante americano. Cos datos na man, Amazon.es hoxe non será capaz de mellorar nin o prezo que os lectores pagan polos libros (o que ofrece é a rebaixa do 5%, que a Lei do Libro establece para os pagamentos ao contado), nin ampliar a oferta editorial de títulos impresos dispoñibles nin sequera poderá mellorar o servizo de entrega que achega a plataforma virtual dos libreiros españois. O catálogo presentado onte por Amazon.es é apenas unha comunicación dos metadatos –incluídas as imaxes dos libros– extraídos de balde de DILVE, o magnífico sistema de información editorial creado pola Federación de Gremios de Editores de España–, xa que a maioría dos fondos, como sucede co dos editores galegos, non está dispoñible nos seus almacéns franceses, debido a que a empresa norteamericana só foi capaz de asinar os contratos de distribución cun número moi reducido de editores e de distribuidores. Amazon non terá outro remedio que asumir algunhas das dificultades ou incomodidades que para o seu exitoso modelo de negocio supón operar en España, Francia, Alemaña ou Italia, estados onde o prezo do libro está fixado polo editor. No entanto, sei do enorme poder da corporación de Befos que, como Apple ou Google, pretenden monopolizar, tamén nos mercados europeos, a creación e a distribución da cultura dixital. Aí está a tremenda importancia da súa chegada, deste primeiro pé no noso mercado. O de Amazon é outro fito, a epifanía deste proceso irreversible, mais paradoxicamente empobrecedor, da perda de biodiversidade do sector da lectura en Europa. Eu, mentres as librarías culturais existan, continuarei apostando polos militantes fantasía de Todos tus libros, un espazo que aconsello visitar aos propagandistas da empresa estadounidense.
