Onte 41: 2,81
Con motivo da intervención que realicei no foro Conexões estimei, a partir dos estudos de Comercio Interior do Libro e da Panorámica da Edición, que en 2010 se venderon en Galicia 7.696.102 libros (si, máis de sete millóns), o que supón que a cada habitante do país noso lle corresponde 2,81. Esta porcentaxe de libros vendidos por habitante é un dos indicadores que se utiliza decote para comparar o esforzo en lectura realizado por cada sociedade. Seguindo por ese fío e sabendo que no Brasil esa taxa foi en 2009 de 2,21, estimei que no caso galego a cifra baixa a 1,68, se non computamos os libros de texto (que supuxeron en 2010 o 40% do mercado) e no brasileiro o 1,21. Quizais esas dúas cifras (2,81 e 1,68) non digan moito, se non as comparamos con outras dos noso entorno. Así, a taxa en Cataluña de libros vendidos por habitante é de 4,14 e en Euskadi do 4,00. Aí nesa diferenza estatística, apenas máis dun libro por habitante (máis de tres millóns de exemplares), nese déficit de lectura, quizais radique a desavantaxe competitiva que vimos arrastrando con cataláns e vascos. Non o esquezamos, a lectura e a compra de libros son un factor de competitividade.
Nota: Brasil vende 450 millóns de libros anos; Cataluña: 30; Euskadi: 8,5 e Galicia 7,6.
